"Ticket to Ride's Latest Update: Journey to Japan"

Author: Logan May 03,2025

Just a few months after the Switzerland expansion graced our screens, Ticket to Ride is back with another fan-favorite map: Japan. For the first time ever, the Japan Expansion has transitioned from the physical realm to digital, and it brings a unique twist. In this version, success isn't just about completing your own tickets; teamwork and collaboration are now key to winning.

The Japan map introduces the Bullet Train network to Ticket to Ride, featuring high-speed shared routes that crisscross the country. While these routes are open to all players, everyone is expected to contribute to their construction. Skipping out on teamwork could cost you dearly, with a 20-point penalty at the end of the match—a significant setback in a game where every point matters. This creates a delicate balance between competition and cooperation.

Beyond the strategic gameplay, the expansion also brings two new characters deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Nakanishi Kimiko, a travel blogger, explores the vibrant festivals of Japan with her loyal dog by her side. Meanwhile, Moriyama Isamu, a Gyoji referee, adds a touch of tradition to the board, connecting players to Japan's rich history.

Complementing the new characters are four additional train cars. The Ichi Eki Saki train and Tsuki Sleeper carriage offer a serene, scenic journey, while the Isogaba Maware train and Hayai carriage are designed for speed, ideal for navigating Japan's fast-paced routes.

This expansion is particularly fitting as Japan is renowned for its stunning springtime scenery, thanks to the sakura blossoms. Download Ticket to Ride now by clicking on your preferred link below. The Japan Expansion is available for $6.99 or your local equivalent. For more information, be sure to visit the official Facebook page.
