The Witcher is back, and fans are buzzing with excitement! The Witcher 3, hailed as one of the greatest games ever made, celebrated its near-decade anniversary, and now, the first trailer for The Witcher 4 has been unveiled, spotlighting Ciri as the new protagonist. As Geralt's adopted daughter, Ciri steps into the limelight as the saga shifts focus to the younger generation.

In the teaser, Ciri arrives in a small village gripped by fear, where the locals are preparing to sacrifice a young woman to appease a monster—a classic case of mob mentality. True to her character, Ciri intervenes to save the woman, only to uncover a situation far more dire than she initially anticipated.

While an official release date for The Witcher IV remains under wraps, we can make educated guesses based on past development cycles. The Witcher 3 took CD Projekt Red about three and a half to four years to create, and Cyberpunk 2077 took even longer. Given that The Witcher IV is still in its early stages, fans might have to wait at least another three to four years before diving into this new adventure.

No specific platforms have been announced yet, but considering the timeline, The Witcher IV is likely to be exclusive to current-generation consoles. It's expected to launch simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While The Witcher 3 was successfully ported to the Switch, it seems unlikely for The Witcher IV, though a potential Switch 2 might change that.

Although we don't have gameplay footage to analyze, we're confident that CD Projekt Red will maintain the core gameplay elements that fans love. The CGI trailer hints at familiar mechanics like potions, two swords, and magical Signs. A new feature appears to be Ciri's chain, which she uses to ensnare monsters and possibly channel magic.

In a previous Fall Damage video, Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt, mentioned that "Geralt will be a part of the game," though the focus will not be on him. The teaser includes some dialogue from the seasoned Witcher, leading many to speculate that he might take on a mentor role in Ciri's journey.
