Fox Hunt is the New Original Multiplayer Mode Replacing Metal Gear Online

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (MGS Delta) will debut a new multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt, which replaces the original game's Metal Gear Online. During the recent KONAMI PRESS START livestream on June 12, Fox Hunt Director Yu Sahara provided insights into MGS Delta's innovative approach to online play. Sahara described Fox Hunt as a "completely original online multiplayer mode" that takes place in the same world as MGS: Delta but delivers a distinct gameplay experience. This new mode replaces Metal Gear Online, which originally launched with MGS3: Subsistence on PS2.

He noted, "We really appreciate all the longtime fans of Metal Gear Online who have always wanted to see it make a comeback, but the landscape of multiplayer games has changed a lot since MGO." Sahara emphasized that they focused on elevating camouflage and hide-and-seek mechanics to create their next-generation version of the mode. "We challenged ourselves to make something unique, that’s more than just another shootout. We’ve used that back-and-forth tension of staying hidden, or searching out the enemy, to create an online experience unique to Metal Gear," he explained.

While Metal Gear Online and its subsequent iterations offered traditional competitive modes in MGS3: Subsistence, MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, and MGS5: Phantom Pain, Sahara mentioned that more details about Fox Hunt will be revealed soon to give fans a deeper look at the new multiplayer experience.

Snake vs. Bomberman Confirmed Exclusively for Xbox

In February, Konami announced that the PlayStation 5 and Steam versions of the game would feature the return of "Snake vs. Monkey" as an exclusive mode. They also teased a similar mode arriving on Xbox, featuring a different character hinted to be Bomberman. This was later confirmed during MGS: Delta’s latest gameplay trailer for Xbox, where developers showcased the "Snake vs. Bomberman" exclusive console mode. The video description states, "Take control of Snake and face off with Bomberman in this special side mode. Blast 'em away in each stage!"
