Hazelight Games proudly announced that its latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has continued its explosive start by selling 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game featuring dual protagonists quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they were "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio had previously shared that Split Fiction achieved a remarkable milestone of selling 1 million copies in the first 48 hours following its debut. This indicates an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, showcasing the game's sustained popularity.

As a cooperative game, Split Fiction likely boasts a player base significantly larger than the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend’s Pass feature. This allows a single purchase to grant a friend free access to the game, further amplifying its reach and engagement within the gaming community. With the buzz around Split Fiction continuing to grow on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, experienced a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay.
