Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

Krafton has taken a significant step to distance itself from the ongoing legal disputes involving Ironmace Studios by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This name change primarily affects the title and possibly some Dungeons & Dragons-specific elements, leaving the core gameplay mechanics largely untouched.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Ironmace Studios is currently engaged in a legal battle with Nexon, who accuses the studio—founded by former Nexon employees—of misusing trade secrets. Nexon claims that Ironmace used assets and ideas developed during their tenure at Nexon to create Dark and Darker.

Despite the ongoing lawsuit, the rebranding to Abyss of Dungeons has now been confirmed, following earlier rumors from February. Fortunately, the transition to Abyss of Dungeons does not signal a drastic overhaul of the game. Dark and Darker Mobile was already set to feature a third-person perspective and other distinct changes, and these elements will remain intact.

While the name change might disappoint some fans of Ironmace, there's hope that the studio's legal issues will resolve soon, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons as a companion to the main PC version of Dark and Darker. The mobile game is slated for a soft launch on June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
