"Amazon's God of War Series Greenlit for Season 2 Before Premiere"

The much-anticipated Amazon TV series adaptation of the iconic video game "God of War" is set to captivate audiences with not one, but two confirmed seasons, as announced by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Stepping into the role previously held by Rafe Judkins, along with executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, Moore brings a wealth of experience from his work on acclaimed series like "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," and the critically acclaimed "Battlestar Galactica."

In a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow "Battlestar Galactica" alum, Moore shared insights into his current projects. "Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. He further elaborated on his new role, saying, "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being an avid gamer himself, Moore humorously recounted his challenges with video game controllers, mentioning classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. "I took a stab at it," he said, "but the controllers threw me. 'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."

For the "God of War" series, Moore will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, with Sony's Cory Barlog remaining on board as executive producer. The series will draw its narrative from the 2018 edition of the game, promising a rich and engaging storyline for fans and newcomers alike.

Amazon's confidence in the project is evident with the early renewal for two seasons, a strategy the streaming giant has successfully employed with other video game adaptations such as "Fallout" and "Secret Level." This move suggests high hopes for "God of War's" streaming success, reflecting Amazon's commitment to delivering quality content based on beloved gaming franchises.
