Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Building Anticipation
Mackenyu Arata, One Piece Star, Joins Assassin’s Creed Shadows as Gennojo
Mackenyu Arata, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the hit Netflix series One Piece, joins the cast of Ubisoft's highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows. He'll be providing both the Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo, a pivotal character players will encounter in this Feudal Japan-set adventure. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a key figure who will aid the protagonist in eliminating a crucial target.
Ubisoft further describes Gennojo as "a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He’s a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, always walking the line with a mix of wit, deceit, and swagger. Motivated by a deep desire to bring down a corrupt system, Gennojo is willing to risk everything, even his own life, to achieve his goal. Despite his rough exterior, he holds a strong sense of justice, especially when it comes to helping the poor and elderly."
While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance in the game remains undisclosed, his importance to the game's missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu himself, Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League," and players can essentially recruit him as a companion throughout their journey.
