Blasphemous is out now on Android, for all you god-fearing heretics out there

Blasphemous, the challenging 2D platformer drawing inspiration from religious iconography and Spanish folklore, is now available on Android! This release includes all DLC, gamepad support, and a completely redesigned user interface. An iOS version is coming soon.

The unsettling nature of organized religion is undeniable. Blasphemous, from The Game Kitchen, masterfully captures this unease with its dark gothic atmosphere, intense side-scrolling combat, and unforgiving difficulty. And now, it's on Android!

Players assume the role of The Penitent One, a heavily armored warrior striving to liberate the cursed island of Cvstodia from the blight known as The Miracle. Confronting grotesque creatures born from a twisted blend of religious imagery and Spanish folklore, your quest is to break the curse – and prepare to die repeatedly in the attempt.

Blasphemous features a completely revamped UI and intuitive touch controls optimized for mobile devices. Bluetooth gamepad compatibility is also included for players who prefer using a controller. All DLC is integrated into the mobile port.

iOS users will have to wait a little longer; the game is slated for an iOS release in late February 2025. However, given the overwhelmingly positive reception from players and critics, the wait will likely be worthwhile.

Mobile platformers haven't always been a smooth experience for me personally. The touchscreen isn't always ideal for precise platforming controls, a fact I discovered firsthand with the classic Metroidvania, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
