Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves' 2.0 update introduces the Rinascita region and its challenging Tacet Discords, including the Lifer—a formidable, top-hat-wearing eyeball boss. This guide details how to overcome this unique Chop Chop variant residing in Oakheart Highcourt's maze.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer awaits in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath the massive tree. Initially, not all maze entrances are accessible. A convenient starting point is the southwest entrance, near the Resonance Beacon. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game Challenge

The Lifer stands beside a six-piece board game. Players (black pieces) aim to create a three-piece line before the Lifer (white pieces). Crucially, placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. The game can be exited and resumed at any time, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for the fight, the board game is key to debuffing the Lifer. Avoid winning before removing buffs, as the Lifer will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer boasts seven buffs, significantly increasing its resilience and damage. Four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance; three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: HP recovery (10% Max HP/second) after 2+ seconds without attack.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, further boosted by 25% every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per hit (stacks to 4), resets after 6 seconds without dealing damage.
  • Decay of Time: 200% increased resistance to all damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

To find the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor tool near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room holds a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow), sometimes requiring minor challenges (Tacet Discord battles, Friable Rock destruction). Place each Stake in the corresponding module to remove a buff; the purple line will turn yellow upon success.

The Final Confrontation

After removing the four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either by winning the board game or choosing "Fight it out!"). The significantly weakened Lifer presents a much easier challenge. Its attacks are less threatening without the buffs.

Victory rewards vary: first win: Premium Supply Chest; second: Premium + three Basic Supply Chests; third: Advanced + three Standard Supply Chests. Re-enable the buffs for a tougher fight, though no achievements are tied to this.

Achievements

Beyond the chests, four achievements are linked to the Lifer:

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's moves; its impatience will eventually lead to a winnable mistake.
