Palworld's Dark Fragments: A Comprehensive Guide

Palworld's expansive Feybreak DLC introduces a wealth of new crafting materials, including the elusive Dark Fragments. This guide details how to obtain and utilize these crucial components.

How to Get Dark Fragments

Dark Fragments are exclusively found on Feybreak Island. To acquire them, you must capture or defeat Dark-elemental Pals. Note that Pals of the Dark element found elsewhere won't yield Dark Fragments. Focus your search on the inland areas of Feybreak, as coastal Pals are typically ground or water types. Some Dark-elemental Pals, like Starryon, are nocturnal, appearing only at night (unless they are boss variants).

Each captured or defeated Dark-elemental Pal yields 1-3 Dark Fragments, though this isn't guaranteed with every encounter. Efficient hunting of these Pals is key to accumulating a substantial supply.

The following Dark-elemental Pals drop Dark Fragments (note that drop rates are approximate and some are boss or predator variants):

Pal Name Drop Rate
Starryon 1-2 Dark Fragments
Omascul 1-2 Dark Fragments
Splatterina 2-3 Dark Fragments
Dazzi Noct 1 Dark Fragment
Kitsun Noct 1-2 Dark Fragments
Starryon (Midnight Blue Mane) 1-2 Dark Fragments
Rampaging Starryon 1-2 Dark Fragments
Omascul (Hundred-Faced Apostle) 1-2 Dark Fragments
Splatterina (Crismon Butcher) 2-3 Dark Fragments
Dazzi Noct (Born of the Thunderclouds) 1 Dark Fragment
Kitsun Noct (Guardian of the Dark Flame) 1-2 Dark Fragments
Rampaging Omascul 1-2 Dark Fragments
Rampaging Splatterina 2-3 Dark Fragments

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may occasionally be found randomly scattered across Feybreak. Thorough exploration is recommended.

How to Use Dark Fragments

Dark Fragments are a relatively specialized crafting material. They are primarily used to create specific saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for your character. Remember that you'll need to unlock the relevant schematics in your Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points, and possess the necessary machines and resources.

The following items require Dark Fragments:

Crafted Item Unlock Method
Homing Module Level 57 in Technology Menu (5 Technology Points)
Triple Jump Boots Level 58 in Ancient Technology Menu (3 Ancient Technology Points; requires Feybreak Tower boss defeat)
Double Air Dash Boots Level 54 in Ancient Technology Menu (3 Ancient Technology Points)
