Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4: Console Testing Update and Save Transfer
Toby Fox, creator of Undertale and Deltarune, recently provided an update on the console testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. While considerable work remains, progress is reportedly smooth. Fox noted on Bluesky that fewer bugs exist, but extensive testing is still underway, with PS5 testing yet to begin.
A significant development is the integration of save file transfer. The team is working to enable players to carry over their saves from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo to the full release of Chapters 3 and 4 on consoles. This feature, recently made possible by new technology, is highly anticipated. "I hope it works!" Fox expressed.
With beta testing progressing well, a release date may be approaching. Fox previously confirmed a 2025 release window for Chapters 3 and 4.
New Character Revealed: Tenna
Amidst the development, Fox shared amusing anecdotes. He described a minigame he's developing, jokingly stating that his family and friends interpreted it as "a cry for help because your game is not out." Speculation arose that this minigame might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox's 2024 statement that Chapters 3 and 4 were content-complete.
Furthermore, Fox mentioned a friend's comment, "I miss Tenna," revealing a previously unannounced character. Tenna was initially glimpsed during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign in September 2022. This confirmation strongly suggests Tenna's appearance in Chapter 3.
Deltarune, a spiritual successor to Undertale, retains many familiar mechanics while introducing a new narrative and characters. Players will continue the adventure alongside Kris, Susie, and Ralsei in their quest to save the world.
