After escaping Fort Joy and removing your Source collar in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you find yourself aboard the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance. To set this unique vessel in motion, you'll need more than just a turn at the helm. You must explore the ship, engage with the NPCs and potential companions, and unlock the secrets that will propel Lady Vengeance forward. The key lies in accessing Magister Dallis' cabin, deciphering the Ancient Songbook, and singing the song to the ship. Let's guide you through this intricate puzzle to get you sailing.

Investigate Dead Bodies On The Ship

Embarking on your quest to sail Lady Vengeance involves piecing together a ship-wide puzzle. Start by thoroughly searching the magister and gheist bodies scattered across the deck. Among these, you'll find a Sodden Diary on one of the dead magisters, which holds the password to a crucial door in the ship's cabin.

Alternatively, you can discover the password to the Stateroom Door by successfully passing a skill check when you interact with the northern Stateroom Door.

In addition to the password for the Portside Stateroom door, you'll need a Strange Gem to interact with it.

Not far from the stateroom doors, to the south, there's a magic mirror that allows you to respec your character and companions as many times as you need. If you choose to persuade the second stateroom door for the password, consider using the magic mirror to reallocate your ability points to ensure you can pass the check.

Find The Portside Stateroom Door In The Ship's Quarters

Armed with the password, head to the ship's quarters to locate the next piece of the puzzle. While exploring, take the opportunity to interact with the ship's NPCs and consider inviting potential companions to join your party.

You'll find an unconscious Bishop Alexander to the west of the cabin, wearing a Source collar. Interact with him and choose the option to "Look closely at his simple Regalia" to find the Strange Gem you need. Add it to your inventory and then proceed eastward to the Stateroom doors.

At the southern Stateroom door, your possession of the Strange Gem will be recognized. Use the password "Fortitude," which you learned from the Sodden Diary, to unlock it. This door leads to Magister Dallis' cabin, where the next clue awaits.

Inside Dallis' cabin, you'll also discover a hidden hatch guarded by two deadly gheists and containing a Teleportation Prism.

Finding The Ancient Empire Songbook To Get The Ship Moving

Upon entering Magister Dallis' cabin, you'll meet Tarquin, an important NPC. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with him before continuing your search. The cabin is compact, making it easy to spot the Ancient Empire Songbook on a central pedestal. Reading it will prompt your character to comment on the cryptic text.

Before you set the ship in motion, ensure you've spoken to all NPCs on board, as you won't be able to interact with them or switch companions once the ship starts sailing.

Getting The Ship Moving

With the song from the Ancient Empire Songbook in your memory, return to the ship's deck and inform Malady of your discovery. She'll then instruct you to sing the song to the ship. Head to the western part of the deck to find the dragon figurine. Interact with it and choose to sing the song, which will activate Lady Vengeance.

After successfully getting the ship to move, be prepared for an immediate ambush by powerful magisters. Ensure your party is well-prepared and equipped with enough companions to handle this challenging battle as you continue your Godwoken journey.
