Dragon Quest X is coming to mobile, but so far only in Japan

For long-time fans of the Dragon Quest series, the news is exciting: Dragon Quest X Offline, a single-player version of the popular MMORPG, is launching tomorrow on iOS and Android in Japan! This marks a significant mobile debut for a title previously unavailable outside of Japan and its consoles/PC release.

Japanese players can purchase Dragon Quest X Offline for a discounted price, enjoying the full offline functionality. This release is particularly noteworthy given a past attempt to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile in 2013 by Ubitu, which ultimately didn't materialize.

Unlike other Dragon Quest games, Dragon Quest X features real-time combat and other MMORPG elements. The offline version, released in 2022 for consoles and PC, offers a streamlined experience for those who may not have played the original 2012 release.

Here be dragons

Unfortunately, there's currently no news regarding a global release of Dragon Quest X Offline for mobile. While the original Dragon Quest X was exclusive to Japan, the possibility of an international launch for the offline version remains open, though not yet confirmed.

This is disappointing news for international fans, many of whom, like myself, have fond memories of past Dragon Quest titles. The chance to experience even a modified version of Dragon Quest X on mobile would be a welcome addition to the series' mobile presence.
