Last year's Switch release of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince from Square Enix was a delightful surprise. Despite some technical hiccups, its charm and addictive gameplay easily surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2. While a PC port was anticipated, a mobile release came as a welcome shock. Today, Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince ($23.99) is arriving on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, complete with all previously released DLC. This includes the content from the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Digital Deluxe Edition. See the trailer below:

The Steam and mobile versions will notably omit the online battle network mode from the Switch edition, which allowed for real-time player versus player combat.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently available on Nintendo Switch, priced at $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). Having thoroughly enjoyed the Switch version, I'm eager to revisit it on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. It's fantastic to see Square Enix bringing more Dragon Quest titles to mobile so swiftly after their initial console release. Considering the typical delays between console and mobile releases in the series (as seen with Dragon Quest Builders), a 2027 mobile release seemed plausible. However, the mobile version is priced at $29.99, while the Steam version will cost $39.99. Pre-register on the App Store for iOS here and Google Play for Android here.
