A Daily Grind: No Hits, New Weapons

Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's launch, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer each day on NG+7, employing a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless, no-hit victory. This undertaking began on December 16, 2024. His initial plan involved tackling various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies prompted a focus on this single, demanding objective.

Messmer, the second antagonist in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is infamous for his brutal difficulty. Players report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal gear. chickensandwich420's self-imposed challenge is therefore a significant undertaking.

A June Deadline: A Contingency Plan

The challenge, however, has a built-in deadline. chickensandwich420 has set a June 2025 cutoff. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, he'll shift his focus to other games. This means potentially over 160 days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone, three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. The success of chickensandwich420's Messmer marathon hinges on Nightreign's timely arrival.
