Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system. This update, arriving January 21st, 2025, addresses concerns regarding the acquisition of high-demand items from the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid.

The core change allows players to exchange Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2, facilitating the purchase of items like the "A Half Times Two" hairstyle and the "Dais of Darkness" mount, both currently requiring significant quantities of Demimateria 2. While the precise exchange rate remains unannounced, this adjustment aims to improve accessibility.

The Cloud of Darkness raid, introduced in Patch 7.15, rewards players with both Demimateria 1 and 2, with bonus Demimateria 2 awarded for first-time clears. The imbalance in acquisition, leading to a scarcity of Demimateria 2, prompted the change.

Both the mount and hairstyle are also tradable on the Market Board, meaning their prices are expected to fluctuate following the patch's release. Square Enix has indicated that further adjustments to the Demimateria system are possible, based on ongoing player feedback and the rollout of future raid content throughout 2025. Patch 7.16 will also feature the conclusion of the Dawntrail Role Quest series, though significant job balance updates are anticipated in Patch 7.2.
