Epic Games has officially outlined the technical specifications for the enhanced version of Fortnite designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that mouse support will be introduced in an upcoming update.
As anticipated, this optimized iteration of the popular battle royale title delivers a significant performance boost. Players can now enjoy a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS), along with improved visual fidelity—rendering at 2176x1224 resolution when docked and 1600x900 when undocked.
The upgraded hardware of the Nintendo Switch 2 also enables advanced graphical features such as extended draw distance, allowing for more precise long-range engagements. Additionally, the game now supports dynamic clothing physics and enhanced textures, shadows, and water rendering for a more immersive experience.
One of the most notable additions is the inclusion of Replays—a feature previously absent from the original Switch version. This enhancement allows players to review their matches and identify exactly who eliminated them. However, it's worth noting that the Save the World campaign mode remains unavailable on Nintendo platforms.
Scheduled for release this Saturday, June 7, Fortnite Update 37.00 will introduce full mouse compatibility across all major gameplay modes, including Battle Royale, Zero Build, Team Rumble, Reload, Reload - Zero Build, Fortnite OG, and Fortnite OG Zero Build. Mouse controls will also function within the game’s menus. By default, the mouse replaces the right analog stick, while the Joy-Con 2’s optical sensor handles camera movement.

To celebrate the launch of Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch 2, players who log in between now and March 31, 2026, will receive the exclusive "Wishing Star" emote. According to Epic Games, the emote lets you "grab a shooting star, make a wish, and throw it back!"—a subtle nod to Kirby. While it doesn’t grant any air ride abilities, it’s certainly a fun addition to your locker.
Fortnite is already available on the Nintendo Switch 2 as part of the console’s global launch lineup. The game currently resides in the final stretch of its Star Wars-themed season, Galactic Battle, which concludes this Saturday with a one-time live event where players infiltrate the iconic Death Star.
