What if Godzilla unleashed his fury on the Marvel Universe? Marvel is answering that question with a new series of one-shot crossover specials. IGN exclusively reveals the third installment: Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1.

Following March's Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and April's Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 is another nostalgic tale set in a past era. This story unfolds after 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, shortly after Peter Parker's return from Battleworld and his initial struggles with the alien symbiote suit. He’ll need every bit of his newfound power to save the city when Godzilla arrives.

Joe Kelly, recently announced as the writer for the relaunched The Amazing Spider-Man, pens Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1. Nick Bradshaw ( Wolverine and the X-Men) provides the art, with cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.

"The moment I heard about a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the '80s, I practically jumped to claim it," Kelly told IGN. "This book is a chance to go all out with two iconic characters and capture the chaotic energy of the era I actively collected Spider-Man comics. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity of the concept and the vibe I aimed for, while simultaneously giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his perfectly normal—nothing weird here—black suit!) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with an earth-shattering roar!"

This isn't the first time Western superheroes have faced Godzilla. DC recently published Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, with a sequel in development. However, while that series featured the MonsterVerse versions, Marvel's issues showcase the classic Toho Godzilla.

This announcement follows the reveal of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology special donating proceeds to wildfire relief.
