A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four characters: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.

This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay features and characters. While the game boasts a roster of 23 4-star characters, many haven't achieved prominent meta status, often requiring significant Eidolon investment to shine. Past updates offered similar free selectors, aiding players in bolstering their 4-star units.

The leak, originating from the reputable leaker HomDGCat, indicates the selector will feature characters from the game's 1.0 cycle. Interestingly, Asta is already obtainable early in the game. This leak further supports prior rumors suggesting an upcoming focus on 5-star character releases, with potentially no new 4-star additions from Amphoreus in the near future. The potential character choices are:

• Qingque: Quantum, Erudition
• Pela: Ice, Nihility
• Serval: Lightning, Erudition
• Asta: Fire, Harmony

While Pela and Asta remain viable support units, Qingque and Serval have been outclassed by newer DPS options. All four are also available for purchase in the in-game store. The ongoing trend of favoring 5-star releases over 4-star ones is notable, with nearly 40 5-star characters currently available, compared to the 23 4-star units. Amphoreus is expected to add eight more 5-star characters, with the potential addition of two more through the Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover.

The 2.0 cycle only saw four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). If the leak proves accurate, future 4-star selectors might lack sufficient new units to offer.
