IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles to Benefit Wildfire Relief Charity

Godzilla's reign of terror, typically focused on Tokyo, shifts its focus westward in a new series from IDW Publishing and Toho: Godzilla vs. America. Following the Chicago showdown, the next installment, Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, unleashes four tales of the King of the Monsters attacking the City of Angels in April.

This anthology boasts a stellar creative team: Gabriel Hardman (Green Lantern: Earth One, Batman: The Brave and the Bold), J. Gonzo (Image Comics’ La Mano del Destino, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Dave Baker (Mary Tyler Moorehawk, TMNT: Black, White & Green), and Nicole Goux (Shadow of the Batgirl).

IDW acknowledges the sensitive timing of the release, given the recent devastating wildfires in and around Los Angeles. While the issue has been in development for over a year, all proceeds from Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 will be donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc), supporting bookstores and comic shops impacted by the fires. IDW shared the following statement:

Regarding the upcoming release of Godzilla vs. Los Angeles, planned since last July, this 40-page anthology features Los Angeles-based talent and is scheduled for April 2025. We recognize the unfortunate timing with the recent fires. "Godzilla" often serves as a metaphor for the impact of tragedies, and it's not our intention to capitalize on these events. To support our community, we're donating all proceeds to Binc, aiding affected bookstores and comic shops.
