Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Sales Soar, Nearing 2 Million

Embracer Group has announced the phenomenal success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, reporting sales nearing the 2 million mark. Just one day after its February 4th launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the game sold 1 million copies, nearly doubling that figure within ten days. This impressive achievement marks a significant win for developer Warhorse Studios, whose medieval RPG sequel has seen exceptional performance, particularly on Steam where it boasted over 250,000 peak concurrent players—a stark contrast to the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance's peak of 96,069 seven years prior. While the actual peak concurrent player count is undoubtedly higher due to console releases, precise figures remain unavailable from Sony and Microsoft.

Embracer, parent company of Warhorse Studios via its subsidiary Plaion, highlighted Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's success, praising both player and critical reception alongside its strong performance. CEO Lars Wingefors stated that the game's exceptional quality, immersive gameplay, and overall appeal are expected to generate substantial revenue over the coming years. He further emphasized Warhorse Studios' commitment to ongoing support, including updates and new content planned for the next 12 months. Wingefors concluded by expressing pride in the teams involved and acknowledging the game's significant outperformance of initial expectations.

Beyond Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer anticipates the release of Killing Floor 3 later this quarter (January-March 2025). The company boasts over 5,000 game developers working on its upcoming titles, including 10 triple-A games slated for release over the next three fiscal years (FY 2025/26, FY 2026/27, and FY 2027/28). Eight of these are from internal studios, with two from external partners. FY 2025/26 will see two triple-A releases towards the year's end, alongside several mid-size titles such as Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, with additional unannounced mid-sized games also in the pipeline.

Following recent challenges including staff reductions and studio sales (including Gearbox and Saber Interactive), Embracer maintains ownership of 4A Games, currently developing a new entry in the Metro series.
