NetEase Games has announced a ban on players using keyboard and mouse adapters with their PS5 and Xbox Series consoles in Marvel Rivals. This action is a direct response to the unfair advantage these adapters provide, particularly the enhanced control sensitivity and retention of aiming assistance.
Adapters such as XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper simulate gamepad input from a keyboard and mouse, creating a significant imbalance in competitive gameplay, especially when auto-targeting is enabled. NetEase clarifies their stance: "We define adapters as devices or programs that emulate gamepad control using a keyboard and mouse. This creates an imbalance in the game, especially in competitive modes.” The company employs sophisticated detection tools to identify and ban accounts using these prohibited devices.
Interestingly, a separate issue has emerged concerning frame rate (FPS) and ping in Marvel Rivals. Higher FPS correlates with higher ping, potentially impacting gameplay significantly, even with relatively low ping. A jump from 90ms to 150ms, for example, is a noticeable detriment. The optimal FPS/ping ratio remains unclear, but some players suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary workaround while awaiting a game patch. This might seem counterintuitive to players accustomed to high FPS in games like Counter-Strike 2, but it's the current reality for Marvel Rivals.
