If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, you'll be excited to know that a new minigame, Demon’s Hand, has been introduced in the client and will be available until the end of April. If you've ever played *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay mechanics familiar, as Demon’s Hand operates similarly.
League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started
To dive into Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button to access the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will kickstart an introduction to the story mode and lead you directly into your first round of the card game.

Your hand is displayed as the bottom row of cards. In the bottom right corner, you'll find your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Above this, you'll see the Sigil box, where you can have up to six Sigils active at once, though you start with none. Remember, your health doesn't automatically restore after battles; you'll need to visit tent locations on the map to recover a percentage of your health.
The enemy is represented by the card at the top, with its health and damage shown at the bottom right and left of the card, respectively. To the left of the enemy card, you'll see an attack coin indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy strikes back. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book that lists all the hands you can play as attacks and their base damage in a standard round.

To deal damage in Demon’s Hand, you'll need to play poker hands, each with unique names but following traditional poker rules. The ultimate hand to aim for is The Demon’s Hand, equivalent to a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands you can play along with their poker equivalents and base damage:
- Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
- Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
- Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
- Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
- Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
- March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
- Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
- Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
- Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
- The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)
In addition to the base damage, the numerical value of each card contributes to the total damage. Be aware that if the enemy has a special ability that nullifies a specific suit, those cards will be marked as invalid for damage calculation, though you can still play them.
Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils
Sigils are another layer of strategy in Demon’s Hand. You can purchase these through the store phases, which are indicated by coins on the map. You earn coins by defeating enemies, which you can then spend to acquire Sigils. Each Sigil offers a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during gameplay. Some Sigils might enhance certain hands, like boosting the damage of Dyads, while others could grant additional turns before the enemy attacks or reduce incoming damage.
That's the rundown on how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame doesn't capture your interest, be sure to check out the upcoming April Fools skins for some fun additions to Summoner’s Rift.
