Metro 2033 Redux Is Free Until April 16

In celebration of Metro's 15th anniversary, 4A Games is offering Metro 2033 Redux for free on Steam and Xbox. This generous offer, announced via Metro's official X (formerly Twitter) account on April 14, lasts until April 16 at 3 PM UTC / 5 PM CET / 9 AM PT. This initiative aims to introduce new players to the series by letting them experience the game that started it all.

4A Games also shared their anniversary plans in a blog post on March 16. They announced a year-long celebration featuring events, deals, and special content across Metro's social media channels as a thank you to their dedicated fanbase.

4A Games, founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanded to Malta, draws inspiration from Dmitry Glukhovsky's science fiction novels, including Metro 2033. Despite facing challenging conditions in Ukraine, the studio remains committed to their work, stating, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title; it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."

The Next Metro

4A Games is currently developing two triple-A projects: the next installment in the Metro series and a brand-new IP. While details about the new IP remain under wraps, the studio provided insights into the next Metro game. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has deeply influenced the game's narrative, as mentioned in their 2022 studio update: "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."

Despite the adversities, 4A Games remains dedicated to creating impactful, reality-inspired stories. They assure fans of their commitment to delivering a high-quality game that reflects the current relevance of the Metro series.
