Konami Hints at Potential Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports
With the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, speculation is rife regarding the inclusion of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake and its potential arrival on PS5, Xbox, and other platforms. Konami producer Noriaki Okamura, in a recent IGN interview, fueled the flames. While remaining tight-lipped on specifics, Okamura acknowledged the considerable fan interest and ongoing discussions surrounding MGS4's future.
"We are aware of the interest in MGS4," Okamura stated to IGN. "However, with Vol. 1 encompassing MGS 1-3, we're currently focusing on the series' future direction. We can't disclose anything concrete right now, but stay tuned!"
The possibility of an MGS4 remake for next-gen consoles, particularly PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, has captivated fans since the PS3 exclusive's 2008 launch. The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms including PC and Switch, only intensified this anticipation.
Further fueling the rumors, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, as reported by IGN, strongly suggesting their inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2. Adding to the intrigue, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project last November on social media.
Despite the mounting evidence and fervent fan speculation, Konami remains officially silent on the contents and release plans for a potential MGS4 remake within Master Collection Vol. 2. The wait continues.
