Lego Unveils New Minecraft Movie Sets Featuring Familiar and Unexpected Mobs
Ahead of the upcoming live-action Minecraft movie starring Jack Black, Lego has announced two new sets offering a glimpse into the film's action-packed scenes and characters. As reported by GamesRadar, these sets – the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and the Ghast Balloon Village Attack – expand the existing Minecraft Lego lineup with minifigures based on the film's cast, including Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's The Garbage Man.
The $49.99, 491-piece Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring set depicts a gladiator-style battle. Momoa's character is shown battling a zombie riding a surprisingly large chicken (the scale is unclear, possibly a baby zombie on a normal chicken, but it's significantly taller than The Garbage Man). The set also includes Steve, his companion Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a treasure chest, and a small viewing stand with weapons.
The $69.99, 555-piece Ghast Balloon Village Attack set showcases the Nether's Ghast in a large-scale battle within a standard overworld village. This set features a villager minifigure, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem.
Both sets launch March 1st, a month before A Minecraft Movie hits theaters on April 4th. The film, revealed last September, initially faced criticism for the contrast between its live-action characters and the CGI-animated world. However, the director and producer, speaking to IGN in November, expressed confidence in their vision and preparedness for audience reactions.
