After years of speculation, the long-awaited details on the Nintendo Switch upgrade have finally been unveiled, and the results are more impressive than many anticipated. The newly revealed Nintendo Switch 2 boasts advanced capabilities, including support for 120fps gameplay and up to 4K resolution when docked.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, a comprehensive overview of the system's features was presented. The Nintendo Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. The screen now boasts double the pixels, delivering a stunning 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The display is an LCD with HDR support, and when docked, it can achieve up to 4K resolution with HDR.The Joy-Con 2 controllers introduce magnetic connectivity, with a release button on the back for easy detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing playability in horizontal orientation, and the left and right sticks have also been upsized. This segment also confirmed the addition of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld mode of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone equipped with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio for compatible games. Additionally, it features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for various height settings. A top USB port has been added, which can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
