Atlus producer Kazushi Wada reiterates the unlikelihood of Persona 3 Portable's female protagonist (FeMC), Kotone Shiomi/Minako Arisato, appearing in Persona 3 Reload. This follows previous statements indicating the significant development hurdles.
High Development Costs and Time Constraints
Wada, in a recent PC Gamer interview, confirmed that while initially considered, adding the FeMC was deemed unfeasible due to budgetary and time constraints. Even post-launch DLC, like the recently released Episode Aigis - The Answer, couldn't accommodate her inclusion.
The February 2024 release of Persona 3 Reload, a full remake of the 2006 classic, omitted the FeMC, disappointing many fans. Wada emphasizes the impracticality, stating that the development time and cost would be unmanageable, effectively ruling out future inclusion. He apologizes to fans who held out hope for her appearance.
This echoes earlier statements to Famitsu, where Wada explained that incorporating the FeMC would require significantly more resources and time than the Episode Aigis DLC, presenting insurmountable challenges. He explicitly states that there's currently no possibility of adding the FeMC. Despite the FeMC's popularity in Persona 3 Portable, Wada's comments strongly suggest her absence from Persona 3 Reload is permanent.
