Pokémon Sleep's development is transitioning from Select Button to Pokémon Works. This article details the change and what we know about Pokémon Works.
Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to New Pokémon Subsidiary
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's newly established subsidiary, Pokémon Works (founded in March 2024), will now oversee Pokémon Sleep's development and future updates, taking over from Select Button.
An in-app announcement (translated from Japanese) confirmed the shift in development and operational responsibilities. The announcement's absence from the global app's news section raises questions about the international rollout of this change.
While Pokémon Works' portfolio is currently limited, their website states they are a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Their Tokyo office is reportedly near ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME – a project Pokémon Works also contributed to.
Pokémon Works aims to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real," promising enhanced Pokémon interaction for players. The specifics of how this vision will be realized within Pokémon Sleep remain to be seen.
