Pokémon GO announces a Shadow Raid Day featuring Ho-Oh on January 19th, 2025—the first such event of the year. Trainers will have a renewed opportunity to capture this top-tier Fire-type Pokémon.

Shadow Raids, introduced in 2023, offer a unique way to obtain these powerful Pokémon variants after defeating Team GO Rocket. 2024 saw numerous successful events, including the return of Shadow Moltres and Shadow Mewtwo. Ho-Oh, a Legendary Bird of Kanto, originally appeared in 2020, while Shadow Mewtwo debuted at Pokémon GO Fest that same year. This Shadow Raid Day marks another exciting comeback for a powerful Pokémon.

Shadow Ho-Oh will be available in five-star raids from 2 pm to 5 pm local time on January 19th. Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh will have an increased appearance rate. Players can acquire up to five free Raid Passes by spinning PokéStops, increasing to seven with bonuses. A Charged TM can teach Ho-Oh the powerful Charged Attack, Sacred Fire (130 power in Trainer Battles, 120 in Raids and Gyms).
