For completionists playing Pokemon TCG Pocket, the Promo Card section is usually a satisfyingly short list. However, the enigmatic Promo Card 008 is currently disrupting this peaceful pursuit.

The Appearance of Promo Card 008

The Promo Card section seemed complete until January 2025, when a new, unobtainable card, Promo Card 008, unexpectedly appeared in the Promo – A Card Dex. This empty slot sits conspicuously between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009).

While the numbering suggests it's been in the game's code for some time, its presence as a blank space is recent. Players are eager to learn how to acquire this elusive card.

Unveiling Promo Card 008

Although currently unobtainable, investigation reveals Promo Card 008's design. Accessing the "Related Cards" section (viewable from cards like Red Card (006) or Pokedex (004)) displays a greyed-out version. It depicts an alternate art Pokedex surrounded by Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

The card's information page confirms its unacquired status and notes it will be "obtained from a campaign," similar to the New Year 2025 Pikachu card (Promo 026). This differs from cards acquired through missions or Wonder Pick events, suggesting a promotional giveaway.

The precise timing and method of obtaining Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Card 008 remain unknown. However, players hoping to complete their collection eagerly anticipate its release. In the meantime, the option to hide unowned cards can alleviate the visual frustration.
