Relic Entertainment Announces Earth vs. Mars Game

Relic Entertainment, renowned for their work on Company of Heroes, is venturing into a new realm with their upcoming game, Earth vs. Mars. This turn-based strategy title, set to launch this Summer on PC via Steam, introduces a unique twist to the genre, drawing inspiration from the beloved Nintendo DS classic, Advance Wars. In Earth vs. Mars, players are tasked with defending our home planet from a Martian extraterrestrial invasion by harnessing the power of the innovative Splice-O-Tron. This device allows for the creation of "bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids," such as the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly, blending elements of humor and strategy in a compelling narrative.

For decades, Martians have been covertly visiting Earth, abducting humans and animals to extract their atomic essence. Now, they've launched a full-scale invasion, and it falls to a ragtag group of commanders to lead Earth's resistance. Players will take command of Earth's military forces, pitting them against the high-tech Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors in a desperate fight for survival.

Earth vs. Mars offers a comprehensive gaming experience, featuring over 30 missions in its single-player campaign, online multiplayer where players can choose to fight as either Earth or Mars, a challenging VS Mode against the game's AI, and a map editor for those who love to tinker and create.

“We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the Advance Wars style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles,” stated Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell. He further elaborated on Relic Entertainment's new strategy, which involves continuing to develop the traditional RTS titles they are known for, while also exploring smaller Indie-style games. This approach allows them to delve into new sub-genres, foster creativity, and release games more frequently. If you're intrigued by this fresh take on strategy gaming, you can wishlist Earth vs. Mars on Steam.
