Will R.E.P.O come to consoles?

The co-op horror game, R.E.P.O., released in February, has quickly gained popularity, boasting over 200,000 PC players. But will this chilling experience make its way to consoles? Let's dive in.

Will R.E.P.O. Come to Consoles?

Currently, there are no plans for R.E.P.O. to launch on consoles. Developer semiwork hasn't indicated any intention to port the game, suggesting it may remain a PC exclusive. The team is currently focused on refining the game's multiplayer experience, a significant undertaking.

Their primary challenge? Balancing anti-cheat measures with the modding community. Implementing robust anti-cheat would unfortunately break many existing mods, a compromise the developers are unwilling to make. This hurdle needs to be overcome before even considering a console port.

While some PC-only titles, like Mouthwashing, have transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that Mouthwashing is a single-player game, simplifying the porting process considerably. Similarly, Lethal Company and Content Warning, predecessors to R.E.P.O. with similar gameplay, remain PC-exclusive. While a console port for Content Warning was considered last year, technical difficulties stalled those plans.

Therefore, the short answer is: no concrete plans exist for a console release of R.E.P.O. The developer's current priority is perfecting the PC multiplayer experience, leaving the console question unanswered for now.
