Saros Is Housemarque’s Successor to Returnal, Arriving in 2026

Housemarque's next title, Saros, a successor to the acclaimed 2022 roguelite shooter Returnal, is set to launch in 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and its enhanced PS5 Pro counterpart. The game, unveiled during the recent PlayStation State of Play, stars Rahul Kohli and features distinct Housemarque hallmarks.

Players assume the role of Arjun Devraj, a Solatri enforcer investigating a perilous, ever-shifting planet shrouded in an eclipse and menaced by formidable entities. The trailer's emphasis on "coming back stronger" and fiery, bullet-hell-esque combat strongly suggests a roguelite structure reminiscent of Returnal.

PlayCreative director Gregory Louden describes Saros as the "ultimate evolution" of Housemarque's signature gameplay-focused approach. While a new single-player IP, it retains the third-person action of Returnal, but with key differences. A PlayStation Blog post highlights a significant departure: permanent progression. While the world dynamically alters upon player death, weapon and suit upgrades persist between playthroughs.

Further details, including an extended gameplay showcase, are promised later this year. For a complete rundown of the PlayStation State of Play announcements, visit our comprehensive recap.
