SEGA Stars Join Sonic Rumble for Historic Crossover Event!

Sonic Rumble has already kicked off its very first crossover event, titled Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars, even before its global launch. Set to run until May 7th, this event precedes the worldwide release on May 8th. Currently in soft launch mode, the game is accessible in over 40 countries, having initially launched in select regions during pre-launch phases in Summer 2024, including the Philippines, Scandinavia, and Colombia. Pre-launch 2 expanded availability to Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and additional areas.

The SEGA Stars crossover brings together fan-favorite characters from across the franchise’s storied history. For starters, the iconic Altered Beast transformations are making a comeback—get your hands on the free Werewolf form today. Fans of nostalgic beast modes can also obtain the Werebear and Weredragon, both of which have different accessibility options depending on how you wish to progress. The Weredragon is tied to the Premium Pass, while the Werebear might be purchasable with regular rings.

Adding to the nostalgia, Fantasy Zone gets a nod with Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa joining the fray. Opa-Opa is part of the Premium Pass, whereas Upa-Upa is available via fragments purchased with standard rings, each costing 700. Meanwhile, AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball have made their debut in the crossover, with AiAi requiring 729 Red Star Rings for acquisition. Catch a glimpse of the crossover event below:

Players can earn exclusive goodies by collecting SEGA logos during matches. Interestingly, SEGA has confirmed that most of these pre-release rewards will reappear post-launch. This event marks an exciting dive into the rich tapestry of SEGA’s past and present franchises, blending monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and mystical were-things with Sonic and his friends—a promising blend indeed.
