The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an early glimpse of the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. In a community post, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have shared that the preliminary patch notes for the PTS include "most" of the features planned for Update 7.0. However, they caution that the final patch notes might differ as the team continues to refine and fix bugs.
Exclusively available for PC players, the PTS for Space Marine 2 introduces a wealth of new content. Update 7.0 includes a new PvE mission called "Exfiltration," a new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, as well as prestige ranks in PvE and private PvP lobbies. Warhammer 40,000 fans will also enjoy exciting customization options, such as new colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, Bulwark cloth and hands recoloring, and a 50% increase in customization rewards in PvP. The PTS also introduces exclusive skins, including an Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
Significant balance changes are also part of Update 7.0, featuring an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE that provides all classes with more weapon choices. Notably, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without needing mods. Players are encouraged to review the detailed patch notes to stay updated on all the weapon tweaks.
A noteworthy update is the change to the Inferno Operation's final stage. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area, others will be automatically teleported there after a notification, addressing the griefing issue that has plagued the game since its launch.
Last month, Space Marine 2 developers hinted at the upcoming Horde mode and clarified their stance on live service games amidst community concerns over 'FOMO' events. Earlier in the year, Saber Interactive responded to player frustrations regarding content updates, promising more enhancements in the coming months.
