Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating the arrival of season two with a wave of fresh content! Get ready for new characters, a brand-new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, you can earn exclusive in-game rewards just by watching the new episodes on Netflix!
Netflix's surprising decision to offer Squid Game: Unleashed for free to everyone, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, just before the holidays, paid off. Now, they're doubling down, enticing non-users with enticing rewards for watching the show!
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game season two will debut. Playable avatars including Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos (not the Marvel villain!) will also be added throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events launching on January 3rd and 9th respectively, to help you unlock them. And for those watching the show, even more rewards await! Watching episodes of Squid Game season two earns you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: The Mingle map arrives, along with Geum-Ja. Participate in the Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until January 9th) by completing Mingle-inspired mini-games and collecting Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos joins the game, with his own recruitment event: Thanos’ Red Light Challenge. Eliminate players using knives to unlock him (event runs until January 14th).
- January 16th: Yong-Sik, the final character in this wave of additions, makes his appearance.
Squid Game: Unleashed is proving to be a significant step for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The initial free-to-play release was a bold move, but rewarding Netflix subscribers while simultaneously encouraging viewership is a clever strategy to boost both the game and the show's success.
