Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A newly released trailer showcases Binks wielding a staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has unveiled ten new playable characters, with more promised. The remastered Jedi Power Battles, originally released in 2000, aims to recapture the nostalgia of the Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace era. Beyond new characters, the updated version includes customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.

The trailer highlights Jar Jar's signature chaotic style and voice lines. While some fans may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding Binks, the game features him using a staff. Jar Jar Binks will be playable upon the game's January 23rd launch; pre-orders are currently available.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the roster is evident with the addition of diverse characters, including droids and iconic figures like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian. The inclusion of multiple Gungans, with both Jar Jar and a Gungan Guard, is a notable detail.

With the launch just weeks away, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new additions to Jedi Power Battles. Aspyr's past experience remastering other Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers hope for a successful and faithful update that satisfies nostalgic players.
