Resident Evil's mastermind, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed his strong desire for a Killer7 sequel during a presentation alongside the game's creator, Goichi "Suda51" Suda. This revelation has ignited excitement among fans of the cult classic action-adventure title.
Killer7: A Sequel or a Complete Edition?
The discussion, which primarily focused on the upcoming remastered version of Shadows of the Damned, took an exciting turn when the topic of Killer7's future arose. Mikami openly stated his wish for a sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, equally enthusiastic, hinted at the possibility, playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a unique blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style, captivated players upon its 2005 release. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with their own unique abilities and weaponry. While the 2018 PC remaster offered a renewed experience, Suda51 also proposed a "Complete Edition," an idea Mikami jokingly downplayed. However, the discussion revealed that unreleased dialogue for the character Coyote could be included in such a release.
The prospect of either a sequel or a complete edition has sent ripples of excitement through the fanbase. Although no firm commitments were made, the creators' shared enthusiasm speaks volumes about the potential for Killer7's future. The ultimate decision, according to Suda51, rests on whether "Killer7: Beyond" or the Complete Edition takes precedence.
