Suicide Squad JL: Final Major Content Patch Arrives

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Receives Final Major Update, Ending Live Service

Rocksteady Studios has released the final major content update, Season 4 Episode 8: Balance, for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This marks the end of the game's live service, less than a year after its launch in February 2024. The update is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The game's unexpected live-service model is widely considered a contributing factor to its short lifespan. Despite the initially promising premise, the reception was largely negative, leading to the December 9, 2024 announcement of the game's live service termination. While new content development ceases, online features will remain active, allowing players to continue enjoying the game's content with friends.

Season 4 Episode 8 introduces significant additions:

  • Libra Infamy Set: A high-risk, high-reward set inspired by the DC villain Libra, manipulating enemy damage output.
  • Notorious Weapons: New weapons, including The Silencer's Complete Silence (with a powerful area-of-effect ability), Doctor Sivana's Magic Bullets (piercing and electrifying enemies), and Chronos' Equilibrium (bonus damage based on missing shield).
  • Mayhem Mission: A final showdown against Brainiac.
  • Gameplay Improvements: Reduced Squad Level XP requirements (with retroactive rewards) and adjustments to Deathstroke's Suicide Strike.
  • Bug Fixes: A comprehensive list of bug fixes addresses various gameplay, UI, audio, and performance issues.

The December 2024 Season 4 Episode 7 update introduced offline play, allowing players to access the main campaign and seasonal missions without an internet connection. While Rocksteady hasn't announced a server shutdown, this offline mode ensures continued accessibility even if servers are eventually taken offline.

For players who haven't experienced the game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently available on PlayStation Plus until February 3rd, alongside The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.

Season 4 Episode 8 Patch Notes Highlights:

New Content:

  • Medieval Elseworld Expansion: Explore new areas within the medieval Elseworld, including The Quarry and The Arena.
  • Libra Infamy Set: Increases damage dealt and received by enemies based on stacked Scales of Libra.
  • Notorious Weapons: The Silencer's Complete Silence, Doctor Sivana's Magic Bullets, and Chronos' Equilibrium offer unique and powerful combat options.

Gameplay Changes:

  • Reduced Deathstroke's Suicide Strike duration.
  • Decreased XP requirements for Squad Levels (retroactive rewards applied).

Bug Fixes: Numerous fixes addressing various gameplay issues, including LuthorCoin expiration, playlist updates, XP rewards, resource rewards, leaderboard registration, and numerous visual and audio glitches across multiple characters and game modes.

Known Issues: Incorrect tracking of Riddler challenges when accessed from a different Episode than the currently selected one. Exiting to the main menu resolves this.
