Warframe's TennoCon 2024: A Blast from the Past with Warframe: 1999
This year's TennoCon delivered some electrifying news, headlined by the upcoming Warframe: 1999 update. Get ready for a nostalgic trip back to 1999 with a unique blend of retro aesthetics and intense Warframe action.
A prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," launches in August 2024, reuniting players with a beloved character and setting the stage for the main event. This prologue introduces Sevatgoth Prime and their signature weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" (and all preceding quests) is a prerequisite for experiencing Warframe: 1999, slated for release in Winter 2024.
Warframe: 1999 plunges players into an alternate 1999, where a deadly Y2K virus threatens global devastation. The setting: Höllvania, a vibrant 90s city corrupted by Techrot. Navigate this retro-futuristic landscape using the new Atomicyles, versatile vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers. Players will command the Hex, a team of six heroes each equipped with a Protoframe—a Warframe showcasing the human form.
The Hex team boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Interact with them via in-game instant messaging for a truly authentic 90s experience.
Prepare for a showdown with On-lyne, a 90s boy band turned Technocyte-infected foes, led by the charismatic Zeke (voiced by Nick Apostolides). Their infectious music will be available on major streaming platforms.
Fashion takes center stage with enhanced customization options. Players can equip two fashion frame loadouts and utilize the new Gemini Skins, bringing the Protoframes (like Arthur and Aoi) into the Origin System with fully voiced dialogue.
Beyond Warframe: 1999, Digital Extremes is collaborating with THE LINE to produce an anime short, launching later this year. Additionally, new Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) are on the horizon.
With Warframe: 1999 arriving this winter, and plenty more content on the way, now's the perfect time to join the action. Download Warframe from the App Store today!
