Monster Hunter Wilds: Gender-Locked Armor is a Thing of the Past!
Fashion Hunting Enters a New Era
For years, Monster Hunter players have longed for the freedom to equip any armor set, regardless of their hunter's gender. That dream is now a reality! Capcom's Gamescom Developer Stream confirmed a major change for Monster Hunter Wilds: all armor sets are now gender-neutral.
A Capcom developer highlighted this game-changing feature, stating that unlike previous installments, "there’s no more male and female armor. All characters can wear any gear." This announcement sparked widespread celebration among the Monster Hunter community, particularly among "fashion hunters" who prioritize aesthetics.
The removal of gender-locked armor eliminates a significant frustration for players. Previously, coveted armor pieces were often inaccessible due to their gender designation. Imagine wanting that stylish Rathian skirt as a male character, or the imposing Daimyo Hermitaur set as a female character – only to find it unavailable. This restriction was especially problematic given the often contrasting aesthetic styles between male and female armor sets.
This limitation extended beyond mere aesthetics. In Monster Hunter: World, changing character gender required purchasing vouchers, adding an unnecessary cost for players seeking specific armor looks.
While not explicitly confirmed, Monster Hunter Wilds will likely retain the layered armor system, allowing for limitless customization without compromising stats. Combined with the gender-neutral armor, this opens exciting new avenues for player self-expression.
Beyond the gender-neutral armor, the Gamescom showcase also unveiled two new monsters: Lala Barina and Rey Dau. For a deeper dive into Monster Hunter Wilds' new features and creatures, be sure to check out the related article!
