Attack the Tentacles
Nu Udra presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Its extensive tentacles grant it a broad reach, making evasion a tricky task. However, these tentacles are within striking distance for melee weapon users. Severing them not only yields extra materials but also reduces its offensive capabilities. Exercise caution, as these limbs are potent weapons in their own right.
Aim for the Mouth
For those wielding ranged weapons, targeting options are plentiful. The most effective spot to focus on is the mouth, despite its camouflage amidst Nu Udra's nearly pitch-black skin. Striking the mouth is crucial due to its 4-star weakness. Alternatively, the head is another viable target, boasting a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, yet it remains excellent for blunt and cut damage.
Use Watermoss
Given Nu Udra's affinity for fire in Monster Hunter Wilds, it's equipped with fiery attacks in addition to its limb assaults. At times, the boss will ignite itself, posing a risk of the Fireblight debuff to close-range attackers. Deploying Watermoss is essential to mitigate this threat, allowing you to attack safely.
Wear Fire Resistant Gear
Should you find the battle challenging, consider equipping gear with high fire resistance. The Quematrice armor set, featuring the Fire Resistance skill, is highly recommended. Enhance your defense further with decorations like the Fire Res Jewel to reduce fire damage, or the Stream Jewel to boost your water attack capabilities.
Beware of Grab Attacks
Nu Udra's arsenal includes a dangerous grab attack in Monster Hunter Wilds. If you're caught too close, it may ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. During the brief pause before the attack, you can break free using a knife or target its weak spot with a Slinger.
