The Blade Phantom, a spectral entity, materializes during the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass. This challenging adversary will test your ability to manage stamina and aggression against its relentless onslaught. It's the first multi-phase boss you'll encounter in The First Berserker: Khazan.
The battle kicks off in a castle with floors flooded by a crimson liquid. Here's what you need to watch out for from the Blade Phantom:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
- A three-hit combo of two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo of flashing punches, followed by a grab that you must dodge.
Beyond these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon various weapons:
- A giant hammer that causes damage and spawns red spikes.
- A spear for a quick throw and a teleporting smash.
- A blade for a swift six-hit combo.
Additionally, it can disappear and dash around the battlefield before attacking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can find openings to attack and deplete its stamina, setting up opportunities for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the second phase.

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom begins with four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. After the spear hits the ground, avoid the affected area and prepare for a leaping swipe. This sequence is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.
While the Blade Phantom retains many of its previous attacks, it now includes:
- A spear thrust and follow-up.
- Four to six sets of swift dual-wielding attacks.
- Increased frequency of teleporting.
When wielding the greatsword, be cautious of multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, indicated by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this move effectively, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to further attacks.
To maximize damage, attack the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted, and only initiate the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed. This strategy will help you secure victory and earn rewards including 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
