Bloodmoon Island, a mysterious region north of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in Deathfog, its connecting bridge destroyed. This seemingly impassable barrier initially hinders exploration, but accessing the island unlocks crucial plot points and side quests. The game offers little guidance, however, leaving players searching for solutions. Here's how to reach Bloodmoon Island in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows the Way
Bloodmoon Island was once connected to the mainland via a now-destroyed bridge northeast of Cloisterwood, near Jahan and Witch Alice. Locating the bridge also reveals the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Using Spirit Vision reveals the bridge's broken segments, some of which are trapped. Overcoming this obstacle requires:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in Act 1, these allow teleportation without needing the skill, enabling you to move each companion individually across the bridge.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat offer teleportation. However, not all companions possess these, making the next option useful.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow warping between pyramids. Two are needed: place one in a companion's inventory, have them cross using translocation, then warp the rest of the party to their location.
Fast Travel: A companion with a translocation skill can reach the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel there.
Take the Ferry Across the Deathfog
For parties including Fane, an alternative exists. Fane's undead nature grants Deathfog immunity. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman offers passage. This is a trick: only Fane survives the crossing. He can then reach the waypoint, allowing the party to fast travel.
Taking the Ferry Without Fane in the Party
Without Fane, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain your party and equip a pyramid on a companion who will take the ferry.
- The companion will die on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- With the rest of the party chained, use the second pyramid to warp to the deceased companion.
- Resurrect the companion using a spell or scroll.
Without Fane, the bridge remains the faster route.
Avoid attacking the ferryman; he retaliates with a deadly Deathfog spell. Quick saving beforehand is advisable. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, a belt, and 3,750 XP.
