The success story at Games Workshop, the creators of Warhammer 40,000, continues to unfold with the company announcing a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus to be distributed among its staff. This decision comes on the heels of a highly profitable year.
For the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, Games Workshop reported a core revenue of £560 million, a significant increase from the £494.7 million recorded in the previous period. Licensing revenue also saw a notable rise, reaching £50 million from £31 million. The company's core profit stood at £210 million, up from £174.8 million, while licensing profit climbed to £45 million from £27 million. These figures culminated in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, an impressive jump from the £203 million of the prior year.
In appreciation of the staff's contributions to these stellar results, Games Workshop has decided to distribute £20 million among its employees, an increase from the £18 million bonus given last year. With an estimated workforce of around 1,500, this means each employee is set to receive a bonus of approximately £13,333 (about $18,000).
While Games Workshop is renowned for its miniatures used in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000, it is also expanding its footprint as an intellectual property (IP) powerhouse. The company's success in this arena is evident with substantial earnings from video games such as the critically acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 released last year, and popular animations like Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Additionally, Games Workshop and Amazon have sealed a deal for Henry Cavill's ambitious Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will see the development of films and television series. Looking ahead, fans can anticipate the release of Space Marine 3.Looking to the future, Games Workshop acknowledged that while licensing revenue hit a record high during this period, it does not anticipate the same level of income in the 2025/26 fiscal year. However, the company remains committed to this aspect of its business. The Warhammer franchise, encompassing both Warhammer 40,000 and other titles, is experiencing unprecedented popularity and growth, showing no signs of slowing down.
Games Workshop recently celebrated its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, where numerous exciting announcements and trailers were unveiled. Key highlights included the release of a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of a Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
