Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month: Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto Vice City. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games temporarily, and these titles' licenses are expiring on December 13th. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear in-game before their removal.
Why are these games leaving?
The initial 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games has concluded. After December 13th, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to GTA III and Vice City. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on the platform.
What happens next?
Players who haven't finished these games can purchase them individually ($4.99 each) or as a trilogy ($11.99) on the Google Play Store. Unlike previous removals, Netflix is providing advance notice. Interestingly, this happens despite Netflix's subscriber growth in 2023 being partly attributed to the GTA trilogy.
There are rumors of a future collaboration between Rockstar and Netflix, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to the platform. This remains unconfirmed, but it offers a glimmer of hope for fans.
