Rey Dau is the first dragon monster you'll encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. This creature wields the lightning element, making it immune to it. However, it's notably vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. The best spot to target is its head, boasting a 4-star weakness. Alternatively, aim for the dragon's wings, which have a 3-star weakness.

Avoid attacking its torso, as it's heavily armored. Given the difficulty in hitting its head, targeting its tail is a viable option. Attacking the legs isn't recommended due to their robust protection. For status ailments, you can use everything except Stun and Paralysis, as Rey Dau's lightning element renders these ineffective.

Use a Flash Pod

A key strategy to swiftly defeat Rey Dau is using a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, giving you the perfect opportunity to land critical hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, immediately aim for its horn to inflict significant damage. Don't forget to switch to Focus Mode to spot the horns glowing bright red.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

If you're struggling to survive, equip gear that enhances your resistance to elements. The Hope Armor set is an excellent choice, offering the Divine Blessing skill which reduces damage taken. It also provides resistance to Lightning and Fire damage, making it ideal for this fight. Consider consuming a meal that boosts your elemental resistance as well.

If dodging attacks proves challenging, stay close to Rey Dau's legs in Monster Hunter Wilds. The monster primarily attacks the areas in front and behind it, so positioning near its legs minimizes your chances of getting hit.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau frequently flies from one spot to another during the battle. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to temporarily stun the monster. However, exercise caution when it returns to its nest, where it unleashes a follow-up lightning attack capable of stunning you. Avoid rushing the fight in this area to prevent a fatal zap.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

In addition to battling Rey Dau to the death, you can also earn rewards by capturing it in Monster Hunter Wilds. To do this, reduce the dragon's health until it's on the brink of death. Watch for the skull icon near the monster's icon on the mini-map. Once it appears, lay down a trap to catch the monster.

Given Rey Dau's lightning nature, avoid using Shock Traps. Instead, opt for a Pitfall Trap for a successful capture. Follow up with a Tranquilizer to ensure the creature can't escape. You'll have only a few seconds to act, so be prepared.
