The developers of the upcoming life simulation game, inZOI, recently addressed fan questions, notably one concerning the depiction of intimate relationships. The assistant director's response regarding sexual intercourse was deliberately vague, avoiding the explicit term "sex," leaving players uncertain about the game's mechanics.
Essentially, the implication is that romantic interactions between ZOI characters can lead to the conception of children. However, the visual representation of this process remains ambiguous, leaving much to the player's interpretation. The developer's statement hinted at a less explicit approach than many anticipated.
Currently, the level of censorship regarding intimacy in inZOI remains unclear. It's uncertain whether it will mirror the approach seen in The Sims series or employ a novel method.
The developers also explained the decision to depict ZOIs showering in towels instead of using pixelated censorship. They argued that this approach is more aesthetically appropriate for the game's cartoonish art style. In a realistic style, pixelation can appear overly sexualized. Furthermore, a technical issue with the pixelation not reflecting correctly in mirrors contributed to this design choice.
The game's rating provides further insight. inZOI has received an ESRB rating of T (Teen) and is expected to receive a PEGI 12 rating. These ratings align with those of The Sims 4, offering a clearer indication of the game's content maturity.
