The console edition of Ready or Not launched last week and has already surpassed one million copies sold. Factoring in sales of its PC early access version from December 2023, the game's total sales have now exceeded 10 million units.
"After launching Ready or Not on PC, it took roughly 36 days to hit one million units sold," stated VOID Interactive CEO Julio Rodriguez. "On console, it took just 3.6 days. I am immensely proud of the team's collective achievement. This is a monumental milestone we do not take lightly."
Rodriguez extended gratitude to the Ready or Not community and "everyone who believed in this project from the beginning."
Last week, on July 15, VOID Interactive proceeded with previously announced updates to the controversial tactical shooter Ready or Not, despite significant criticism from fans who argued the studio was "censoring" the game's violence and gore to "appease console platform regulators."
The developer explained it needed to tone down depictions of gore, nudity, violence, and the "mistreatment of children" for the console release. To avoid maintaining multiple divergent versions that could "increase the risk of bugs," certain elements of the PC version were also updated.
VOID initially stated the alterations were "minor enough that most players wouldn't notice without an announcement," but the team "wanted to maintain transparency." The player base strongly disagreed, and the update caused Ready or Not's recent Steam user reviews to drop to "Mostly Negative." Prior to the controversy, the game held a "Mostly Positive" rating.
Remarkably, within 20 minutes of the controversial update going live, a community mod was released to revert the changes.
